Are neoprene wetsuits, polyurethane foam, polyester or cotton fibers at risk of desorbing sulfuryl fluoride or chloropicrin for a period longer than the time we’re out of the building?
What kind of measures are taken with AC units and bathroom fans to insure gas is dissipated from them before reentry to the building?
Do refrigerators need to be turned off before vacating the building?
Hey Tyson. Neoprene wetsuits, polyurethane foam, polyester or cotton fibers are fine to leave as is. Those items will absorb the fumigant. AC units will be fully ventilated by the tiem you return home. Just be sure to leave it off before the fumigation. Refrigerators will stay on. Just be sure to double bag all the food items.
I’m confused on why it’s okay for those items to absorb the fumigant.
The California Dept of Public Health says they don’t know how sulfuryl fluoride may get trapped in and released from some materials, like memory foam, that are used in mattresses and other furniture. I have the same concern about the Neoprene wetsuits, polyurethane foam, polyester & cotton fiber items.
Isn’t it the case that these materials desorb sulfuryl fluoride after the fumigation?
Hey Tyson. My apologies on my last comment. I meant to say that they will NOT absorb the fumigant. It’s true that the gas will be fully ventilated out of the mentioned products prior to certifying the building for reentry. The state allows 1 part per million or less of fumigant to be considered safe for reentry. For our fumigations, we make the standard of bringing fumigant levels down to absolute zero before we release your building back to you.
Hello. Will there be space near the outside of the building to leave a couple of large plants which are inside pots? They do not fit inside my car.
Hi Sujata. The best place for your plants will be at the driveway entering the garage. The corner closest to the stairs should be the best spot for plants.
I am not sure if **** in Unit #* gave you my name and email address when he submitted the Occupant’s Fumigation Notice form, but I will be preparing his unit while he is out-of-town. I am, *****, at *****@hotmail.com.
My question concerns the outside patio plants and the extent of tarp covering in the back of 3422 Schooner. In the back of the building, will the walkway and the side staircase be tarped? On the north end of the back walkway, there is a small deck that many of us used when the walkway was recently resurfaced. If the back walkway and deck are not going to be tarped, then the residents may move their patio plants to the small deck. If it is going to tarped, then plants can be moved down toward the garbage containers or left in place and risk over exposure.
Secondly, for those that have houseplants, can the plants be left inside our unlocked cars? I’m afraid they may be stolen if left outside and will have a better chance of survival if left inside a sealed car.
Please make sure to add my name and e-mail address to the group notification so that I may be aware of any updates. Thank you
Hi Mark. The best place for your plants will be at the driveway entering the garage. The corner closest to the stairs should be the best spot for plants. Vehicles will receive the same concentration of fumigant as the home. Leaving plants in the car will have no protective effect. Please remember that the car must remain unlocked.
