    Hello Ozzie,
I changed my unit access to Lockbox with key, however I am unable to get the key to open the door. I can go back to the door code or I could put the lock box on the door handle with the key inside and perhaps the inspectors will be able to get the key to work and have the door code as backup. Please advise.

    Thank you,
    Linda Nakashima

Hi Ozzie, we have some portable room air purifiers. I did not see those mentioned in the checklists, but I understand that air purifiers should be removed before fumigation. Can you confirm?

    Reply
    • Ozzie Camacho

Hi Curtis. The air purifiers can stay as is. They won’t require any additional changing or cleaning afterwards.

Will your team plan to do pre inspection walk through and check before fumigation day ? What day and what time ?

    Reply
    • Ozzie Camacho

Hi George. We do not do any home inspections before fumigation day. Our indsections only occur on the morning of the fumigation.

Cars left behind need to be left unlocked – got it. However do the windows need to also be cracked or opened 3″ like the windows in our units?

    Reply
    • Ozzie Camacho

Hi Tracy. Yes, windows need to be down 3 inches.

On 8/4/26, I received an email message that reminded us of important things. The following was stated:
“Storages Unlocked – Anything with a padlock should be left unlocked and accessible. This includes any storage compartments in the home as well as in the garage. Failure to leave adequate storage access for all necessary inspections will result in locksmith fees billed to the unit occupant.”
This requirement about locking our storage cubes keeps going back and forth. We were told at the two town hall meetings that our storage cubes (which have padlocks) could be locked because they were surrounded by a chain-link fence, which allows for the passage of air. Has that requirement changed? Are we now required to leave our storage cubes unlocked?

    Reply
    • Ozzie Camacho

Hi Velma. You are correct. Your chain link fence cages can remain locked. We have verified this with the lead fumigators. The opposing instructions may be coming from office staff who have not been out to your community. We apologize for the confusion.

Hi Ozzie, another question, this time about temperature. How high does the temperature inside get while the tents are over the building (I am on 3rd floor)? I want to make sure I properly prep heat sensitive items like candles, paints, and kitchen butane refills (culinary torch canisters). Thanks!

    Reply
    • Ozzie Camacho

Hey Yamaoka. The temperature within the tents may vary between 10 – 20 degrees warmer than the ambient temperature. It’s unlikely to reach high enough to affect candles and other such sensitive items.

Does Marriot Hotel in Torrance give discount to the resident of Village Court for the fumigation?

Hi Hiroshi. We are aware of any arrangements for discounts offered by any hotels particularly in regards to the fumigation project.

Hi Ozzie, quick question about the tear gas warning agent. A friend who had their house fumigated about a decade ago told me that their soft porous kitchen items like silicone spatulas, plastic tupperware, chopsticks, and wooden cutting boards got that tear gas smell and residue afterward. Have things changed over the years to stop that from happening, or should we just go ahead and double bag items like those to be safe? Thanks in advance!

    Reply
    • Ozzie Camacho

Hi Yamaoka. If products are not used properly, they do have potential of causing more harm than was necessary for the treatment. Our fumigators have no record of lingering fumigant or warning agent in over a decade of service spanning thousands of homes fumigated. The proper dosage procedures are strictly adhered to to complete a safe an successful fumigation.

    Hello
Are coffee pods considered a original manufactured, airtight seal item?

    Reply
    • Ozzie Camacho

Hi Charles. Coffee pods should either be removed or double bagged in the Nylofume material provided. Coffee pods, even if factory sealed, are not in a glass container or metal can.

Do the Pool/Spa heater and circulation pumps need to be shut off during the fumigation like the HVAC needs to be shout off in the common areas building?

    Reply
    • Ozzie Camacho

Hi Randy. The pool and spa heaters would be best to be shut off during the fumigation. We’re happy to work alongside your maintenance personelle on the last day of fumigation to have them up and running prior to everyone’s return.

Ozzie: On July 17, Timothy Takata requested extra Nylofume bags, which he said he would pay for. I received my roll of bags yesterday and am sure I will use no more than 3 or 4. Please send my info (email) to Timothy in case he still needs bags.

Hi Ozzie, I have two questions: (1). We have a child’s car seat that is used only when our grandchild visits, so we store it in our unit. Would we need to remove it? (2). One of our bathrooms has a ceiling panel that was used for HVAC work done by a previous owner. I don’t know if other units have the same thing. Does that type of panel need to be left open?

    Reply
    • Ozzie Camacho

Hi Curtis. The child’s car seat can stay as is. No need to remove it. The HVAC panel can also stay as is assuming it is not locked.

Medication and food are delivered in the mail. Are mailboxes to be left unlock when we leave? What if someone, who has not picked up their mail, had medication or food delivered that it is sitting in their mailbox?

    Reply
    • Ozzie Camacho

Hi Randy. The fumigators do not inspect the contents of mailboxes. If any medication or food were to be left inside the mailbox during the fumigation, we would recommend that it be discarded.

Hello termite fumigators: I guess the termites would call you Terminators! We have mite-proof mattress covers, which appear to be made of tight-weave cloth, not plastic. Is it okay if we leave those on the mattresses? We put them on the mattresses when they were brand new, so they can’t be harboring any termites. Thanks.

    • Ozzie Camacho

HI Susan! Terminators might become our new name! Your mattress is fine to leave as is. No need to remove any covers.

Do you know how many people will be entering each unit so that I know how many shoe covers I should have ready?

    Reply
    • Ozzie Camacho

Hi Kazuko. There will be up to two fumigators and likely up to two gas company techs, but not at the same time. Perhaps 6 pairs would be good, but the more the merrier.

    Hi Ozzie,

For the storage units, do we need to leave the lock to the unit unlocked? Can you please confirm? The storage units are one of those cage fenced type with multiple units inside a large room that you need a master key to enter. I think the storage units are on each floor for the residents of that floor. Thanks.

Hi Chia-May. The storage cages can stay as is. Please just be sure to remove any food items you might have in there.

One more question, does eye drops need to be bagged or removed? It’s not edible, but it’s medication. Thanks.

        • Ozzie Camacho

Hi Chia-May. If they are standard eye drops, they can stay as is. If they are medicated, they must be removed.

I would like your advice on placing a lock on the door to the water closet. There’s no easy way to place a lock based on my brief research. If I left the door as is, you informed me that they will place a nail on the door. Would it be easy to remove without causing much damage to the door? Or do I have to have a locksmith come to install a lock. Please give me advice on what is the best way to deal with this problem.

    Reply
    • Ozzie Camacho

Hey Kazuko. The water heater closet is not considered an exterior door since it doesn’t lead into any of the actual living space. It can stay as is. No need to install a lock.

    Hello Ozzie –

Great presentation this morning. This question is specific to my cage storage area. It is filled FLOOR TO CEILING with walkers, misc medical equipment, and household items only (no food). I’m happy to email you a picture – just want to be sure your inspectors will be able to successfully clear my space without needing the space to be unlocked.

    Thank you!
