For peace of mind, could you please confirm the following details about our fumigation?
• Which EPA aeration procedure was used — Procedure 1 or Procedure 2?
• What clearance device did your team use to measure sulfuryl fluoride levels (e.g., Interscan or Spectros Instruments)?
• How long was the total ventilation time — both active (with fans) and passive (windows open)?
• If available, could you also provide photos or logs of the gas level readings for each room, including the time they were taken?
We want to make sure everything was done according to safety guidelines before reentering. Thank you!
Hey Nicole. In California, fumigators implement what is called California Aeration Plan (CAP) to achieve full and proper ventilation of a structure. They most commonly use Interscan or CLIRcheck to measure parts per million to detect any presence of lingering fumigant. The ventilation time will be a minimum of 6 hours with active ventilation methods being implemented with fans. For us to forward your request for photos, please email us at fumigaitons@accuratetermitecontrol.com with your unit address and we will send word over to the fumigators.
This is what the AI finds: After the exposure period, fumigators remove the tarps and begin aerating the structure to remove Vikane gas. The EPA-approved procedures involve an active ventilation phase using fans. Traditionally, at least 1 hour of active ventilation with doors and windows open was required . As of 2024, EPA has extended the active aeration to 2 hours for residential fumigations to enhance safety . High-power fans (e.g. one 18-inch fan per ~22,500 cubic feet) are placed to circulate air and push the gas out of the building …
Will your company performs ventilation before letting tenants re-entry?
Hey Nicole. IN your community, fumigators will be using fans to aerate the building for a minimum of 6 hours while also having one window per room in each unit open at least 3 inches. We will not allow any residents to return to the community until full ventilation has been achieved.
Thank you.
This is a silly question – but I will not be able to leave my trash can out for pickup before the fumigation on Wed. Trash pickup is Tuesday. I have food trash in the bin, and will not be bagged. Obviously they will not be consumed, so is it ok to leave in the trash unbagged? or should i remove them from the property completely?
No worries, Cindy. That’s actually a good question. Food in the garbage bin can stay in the garbage bin. We assume that once it has been thrown out, there’s no intention to salvage it.
Can we get more bags?
Hey Nicole. Extra bags can be purchased from our office in Gardena. Each additional bundle is $60 and our office is open from 9am to pm Monday through Friday. Please send a message to fumigations@accuratetermitecontrol.com to coordinate.
I received notice from management that you will be onsite on Tuesday 7/29 to begin preparation. Does someone need to be home on Tues to meet them?
And are other questions / comments made by other units public? how do we access ? Just wondering if someone else asked the same question.
Hey Cindy. You don’t have to do anything on Tuesday. Crews will stay out of everyones way. Other questions or comments are made public on this website. There just hasn’t been a whole lot of neighbors using it.
The bags didn’t come with any ties. What ties do you recommend to tie off the bags?
Hey Cindy. You can use rubber bands, masking tape, duct tape, or any other sturdy tape to keep the bags closed.
