Hi Ozzie–are we on track for returning at 6pm Tuesday? It’s Monday and someone in MDR thought the tents were still up as of earlier this afternoon.
Thank you,
Chris
Confirming entire complex still 100% tented at 5 PM Monday.
Hi Jk. the fumigation is still on schedule. One small correction, your return time is 6pm.
I’d appreciate it if someone answered this question as well, please.
Hi Christine. That is correct. Tents were scheduled to come down today, Tuesday. We are still on schedule.
Not sure if this has been asked but is the warning agent you use chloropicrin, and do you use it inside of our homes at all? And if you do use it in our homes, how do you verify it has also cleared the home and that it does not remain in any of the homes items, furniture, or building materials?
Yes, chloropicrin is the warning agent used during the fumigation. If it is not used or ventilated properly, it does have the potential to linger. However, the fumigators apply a calculated amount based on the size of the structure specifically to avoid that from happening. Once the fumigation is complete, the chloropicrin containers are removed and the entire structure is ventilated. The fumigators are also the first people to enter each unit after the fumigation, so they are able to assess for themselves whether any odor or irritation is still present. If there is, they will continue ventilating the unit as needed before residents are allowed to return. They will also test the air in each unit to confirm the Vikane level is at or below the required clearance level of 1 part per million before the building is released for reentry. Furniture, clothing, bedding, dishes, and other household items may remain inside and do not require any special cleaning afterward.
What if anything do we need to do about cat litter boxes/cat litter?
Hey Josey. Cat litter can stay as is.
Sould we be lifting window blinds so that workers can access windows to open them or will workers be lifting blinds and shades?
Hey Christine. They will lift blinds and shades as needed, but having you do it before you leave helps speed up the work in your home.
Hi again Ozzie,
regarding our storage lockers. If we unlock our padlock to the locker, please remind us if your guys will be
relocking the doors with that padlock (when no key is necessary to lock it) or keeping it open and unlocked for us to re padlock upon return.
Thank you.
Linda
Hi Linda. The fumigators will not lock up storages after the fumigation.
Hi Ozzie,
I moved in recently and am still living in a ton of boxes. I was aware of the fumigation plans so have separated food/meds for removal, but want to be sure all these sealed packed boxes will not be a problem.
Hey Jonathan. Welcome to the community! Assuming that there are not edible items in the boxes (assuming they are cardboard) they are okay to leave as is.
Hi! asking on behalf of my neighbor – do we need to do anything about the pilot lights in our fireplaces?
Hey Kenny. Nothing at all. The gas company is taking care of all that for you.
Hi there – We have a water dispenser/bubbler. Am I supposed to do something special with the water bottle currently in it and the water inside the tank in the cooler?
If it’s just regular water, it’s ok to leave as is. Same with the dispenser.
Just to clarify, does this include home made sparkling water in non factory sealed plastic bottles?
That’s a good question! Those would have to be removed or double bagged. The exception only applies to still water.
Also, do we need to bag contact lenses or contact lens solutions?
Regular contact solution is ok to leave as is.
Do we need to bag skin care products? My guess is no since these aren’t intended to go through the digestive system.
If they are regular skincare products, they are fine to leave as is. However, anything medicated should be removed or double-bagged.
if you lower your car windows the 3 inches do you still have to leave your car unlocked?
Hi Michelle. We will still need access to the trunk, glovebox, and center console.
Hi Ozzie,
How can I get more bags to prepare for the fumigation please?
Hi Julien. Jessica on the management office may have some extras. I recommend reaching to her first before you make a trip to our office.
Hi Ozzie,
You mentioned that factory sealed canned metal and glass containers do not need to be bagged. Just to clarify, does that include aluminum cans such as soda and sparkling water and glass such as corked wine and unopened alcohol bottles?
Hi Alla. That’s correct. If the factory seal is intact, aluminum cans such as soda and sparkling water and glass such as corked wine and unopened alcohol bottles can stay as is.
Hi Ozzie, how will the fumigant be eliminated from the HVAC ducts knowing our Condensers etc are on the roof , and duct work thru building to our units, and the tent will cover them and gas released. just a curious question if in fact it is a valid one. Thanks Ozzie
Hi Linda. Part of the ventilation process and the air quality checks account for any air that might remain stagnant in those ducts. Fans are put inside of the unit to ensure proper airflow even through the air vents.
Do we have to remove string lights which are inside the unit?
Hi Jason. Lights inside the unit can stay as is.
What’s going to happen to all the plants in the garage level? Are they going to be wrapped or covered, or are they all going to die and have to be replanted?
Thanks,
The plants in the garage level will also be tented. We’ve been working with your landscapers to strategize best chances of them recovering.
Hi this is Rommy Williams, wanting to get my forms for the fumigation. Please email me asap. Thank you!
Hi Rommy. The form is on this same website. As you first access the site, there is a dropdown menu where you can select your address. From there you can submit your form electronically.
Can food cans be left during b fumagation
If the cans are either steel aluminum AND they have never been opened, they can stay as is.
Hi – 2 questions about my patio.
I have a shelf that takes up one end of my patio, it’s about 5ft across, 6ft tall, 2ft deep. Will this get in the way or can it remain in place for the fumigation?
Is it unsafe to leave bags of soil on the patio?
Would you recommend covering a grill that’s on the patio? Or is it fine to leave uncovered?
Hey Kenny. To help us answer your question about the patio shelf, please send us a photo to fumigaitons@accuratetermitecontrol.com. Your bags of soil and grill can stay as is.
Thanks Ozzie. I assume you mean “fumigations@accuratetermitecontrol.com” (above it’s spelled “fumigaitons”
Let me know if not though! I emailed fumigations@accuratetermitecontrol.com” a few days ago, haven’t received a reply yet.
Thanks for catching that! We’ll respond to your email ASAP. Thanks so much for being patient.
How will the building be aerated–will each unit be tested for sulfuryl flouride levels prior to the “all clear”?
Hi Christine. The fumigators will use high velocity fans in each unit to ensure proper ventilation. They will also be testing air quality at parts per million to ensure complete absence of any fumigant.
Hi, I don’t see any notes section to leave my entry code info and the form only lets me select leave key with onsite manager. Where can I provide my entry code? I also have a few questions on what I can leave in my storage unit in the garage. I have opened cans of paint stored in there from a remodel. Can I leave them in my storage unit? Question on my patio, can I leave my patio furniture covered, bbq covered, and heat tower lamp covered? Also, when I completed my signatures it says here is a link to the signed agreements and there wasn’t a link to click and download it. I’d like to get a copy please.
Hi Amy. You can email your code directly to fumigations@accuratetermitecontrol.com. When emailing us please give us your unit number so we can send you a copy of your form. We will then update our notes manually. Your patio furniture and bbq can be covered as you see fit. Paint cans can stay as is whether they be in your home or the storage unit.
What about factory-sealed heavy plastic jars such as for Skippy Peanut Butter and Dole Tropical Fruit, etc? Other sites say these are ok.
Also, please email me the 15-page attachment I haven’t been able to get yet.
Will Jessica have extra bags in case we need them at the last minute?
Hi Sue. Factory sealed plastic jars are okay to leave as is. We will send you the attachment soon. Please reach out to Jessica to confirm arrangements for extra bags.
Do you have a picture of how the complex will be tented? Can you show us?
Is there one big tent over all 7 buildings?
Do you tent buildings individually so there actually is open space between buildings where we may be able to put our plants?
Are there open areas on podium levels at entrances of 4050 and 3950 where we can put plants between buildings?
Hi Bethany. Thanks for the question. After speaking with your HOA, they have unfortunately not authorized any spaces within the community to store plants during the fumigation.
Does Accurate have any issues performing its responsibility if plants are housed in the open common areas between buildings.
Though it’s difficult to pinpoint until we begin to tarp the buildings, many of the common areas will likely be tented due to the layout of your community.
Where can I download the Fumigation Planning Guide and Accurate Fumigation Fundamentals documents Ozzie referred to in the video?
Hey Howard. We emailed it directly to you. It should be in your inbox.
