Hello,
I have a few questions in preparation for the upcoming fumigation:
1. Electricity:
Will the electricity remain on during the fumigation? I understand that food can be properly bagged and left inside the refrigerator if it requires refrigeration—can you please confirm if this is correct?
2. Re-entry Time:
In your video, it was mentioned that we can return at 12:00 PM on Monday, but the flyers and emails indicate 6:00 PM. Could you please clarify the correct re-entry time? Also, the video mentions that we must be present for the gas company to restore service—however, my understanding is that the gas meters are located in a common area (basement), not inside individual units. Please confirm if tenant presence is required.
3. Cabinets and Drawers:
Are we required to leave all cabinets, closets, and drawers open, or can they remain closed as long as they do not contain any items that must be bagged?
Thank you in advance for your clarification.
Hi Kenneth. Electricity will stay on. Once food items are double bagged you can store them back in the fridge. We apologize for the confusion on the return time. Your return time is 6pm on Monday. You do not have to be there for the gas company. We will ensure they have proper access during your absence. Your presence is not required. You are required to leave cabinets and drawers unlocked, but they don’t have to stay open. The fumigators will leave them ajar for you to ensure proper airflow.
Just would like clarification regarding how to leave our unlocked vehicle windows. Some information I saw online indicated that all of the windows should be down for most optimal saturation. Is that true? Or is that too much? If the windows are all open, do we still need to leave the trunk open?
I know the doors should be unlocked as well.
Hi Anita. Yes, at the very least the vehicle should be unlocked. Leaving the windows down and the trunk open are to ensure the vehicle is properly ventilated when it comes time to expel the fumigant gas.
A neighbor mentioned we can move plants into the courtyard, is that correct? I don’t think I caught this on the webinar recording so reaching out to confirm.
If yes, will they be safer there than if left on our own balconies? & If we are able to move plants to the courtyard, when can we move them? Please advise.
Hey Norma. Yes, plants can be moved to the courtyard during fumigation. If left in the balcony, the plants will likely sustain damage due to exposure to the fumigant. We don’t have clear guidelines as to when you can start moving your plants, but generally speaking it would be ok to start moving them the day before you are scheduled to vacate.
Two questions:
How do we seal our bags? The diagram in the paper included with the bags your team provided says we should twist tie them, but there are no twist ties included. Can we use a rubber band? Please advise. Thank you!
I understand that each bag (in the double bag set) needs to be twisted and tied.
The second question is regarding access to our unit. We have selected the door access code. Can we send you an email showing you how to enter this code? Would this be helpful for your team? I want to ensure there are no issues that would result in a locksmith being called or our door being cut into. Thank you.
We appreciate your support.
Hey Norma. You can certainly use rubber bands or tape to seal the bags. Feel free to send us an email about your door code. Though we are confident we will know what to do even without the instructions. We’ve seen a few locks over the years 😉 fumigations@accuratetermitecontrol.com
Can I kick it?
Yes. You can.
